Forgotten Areas in Healthcare Facilities Draw Pests

When we think about healthcare facilities, we generally think of well-maintained spaces. A hospital can’t afford to let dirt and grime accumulate in patient areas, and the same goes for cafeterias and other public spaces. Sometimes, however, less-traveled areas can be the source of pest pressures.

Don’t forget to monitor for pests in less high-volume areas.

When working with its healthcare pest control clients, Western makes it a point to survey these areas, which might include infrequently accessed storage areas, basements, or other facility sites away from public view. When it comes to pest exclusion, the age of a facility can also come into play.

From Your NY/North Jersey Commercial Pest Control Specialist: “Hospitals set in large, older facilities that are structurally difficult can be a challenge. By working with maintenance, environmental services, and other groups within a hospital, we can begin to foster change.” – Mike Whalen, Commercial Regional Sales Manager, NY/Monmouth County, NJ

Required changes can include an upgraded approach to site maintenance, increased pest awareness, exclusion, and new sanitation and storage techniques. If you’re experiencing pest issues at your healthcare facility, Western’s experienced healthcare pest control team can help.
