Spring
- Move firewood piles away from the house to aid in the prevention of
termites, snakes, rodents, and other pests.
- Slope soil away from the foundation to minimize water accumulation
next to the house.
- Cut back trees and shrubs that touch or overhang the house. Trees
touching the house serve as a highway for ants, squirrels and other
pests that would like to share your home with you.
- Make sure that gutters flow freely and drain away from the house.
- Minimize moisture in crawl spaces by installing a vapor barrier to
prevent wood rot and termite damage.
- Replace rotted railroad ties.
- Remove rotted tree stumps.
