Q: What’s your name?
A: Bavan Singh
Q: And what is your official title at Western Pest Services?
A: Commercial/Residential Pest Control Technician (although I’ve always liked calling myself a Pest Management Specialist) 🙂
Q: What are your responsibilities?
A: I handle the pest control services for a routine route consisting of apartment complexes, nursing facilities, warehouses/office buildings, residential homes, and schools/universities.
Q: What year did you start working at Western?
A: Summer of 2019
Q: How many years have you been working in this industry?
A: I have been in the business for a little over 2 1/2 years now.
Q: What is your education background?
A: I currently hold a Bachelor’s in Public Relations and Marketing from St. John’s University and am obtaining my Master’s in Business Administration via the Rollins Purdue Global program.
Q: Do you have any relevant certifications or specialties?
A: I hold my commercial applicator license, as well as training from my time in the United States Air Force and educational training. I have various marketing and sales certificates from my time as an undergrad as well.
Q: Have you received any relevant awards?
A: I was given various squadron and commander rewards during my time in the service. Currently I hold the record for highest year-to-date technician sales at my branch. I enjoy sales and I truly believe technicians have the greatest opportunity and potential, out of all other positions, in developing the company further.
Q: Are there any interesting projects you’ve worked on that you’d like to include?
A: Exclusion work comes up from time to time – and I enjoy being involved in that. I’ll volunteer whenever possible because it’s an opportunity to learn and a change of pace from the usual work routine. My biggest client (a well-known college in the area) always has things going on as well, and they give me the opportunity to customize how I do my work whenever possible. Rat burrow hunting can be quite fun if you turn it into a workout!
Q: Is there anything else you would like to include?
A: I think a career in pest management can be quite rewarding, and even though it’s not the first thing on people’s minds when it comes to making a living (especially among the millennial and generation z populations from what I’ve noticed), it is an essential business that never stops growing! I also like that Western Pest Services is slowly changing, reimagining itself with a new face, and taking its rightful place among modernized corporate America. I think that is important for the growth of this company and industry. My personal, long-term goal is to be a part of that change and work to make the company appealing for the next generation of employees.
