The team at Western makes sure that giving back to their communities where they live and work is at the top of their priority list. From participating in walks for autism to collecting toys during the holidays, they make sure to make as many heroic impacts as they can. One constant has been donating to the Food Bank of Delaware.
During the summer, the need for a full food pantry is even more important. Many kids get two of their meals at school and with summer vacation meaning school’s out for summer, those kids need to get their meals somewhere else. The Food Bank of Delaware knows this and makes it their mission to feed the people of Delaware as best they can. The Western team is always there to help.
This year, the team not only donated non-perishables, but this time they also donated their time. A total of fourteen teammates packed 360 boxes with about 5,760 pounds of food they donated – and they were all smiles. That amount of food is going to go very far with the food insecure in Delaware. And helping to separate into categories and pack it all up frees up the people at the food bank to focus on the people they’re helping.
The team at Western was just happy to be a part of it all. They believe showing up for others isn’t only about showing up for their fellow teammates and their customers. It’s about doing remarkable things that are bigger than themselves. And even better if they get to do it with other members of the Western team. They know nobody can be their best self by themself. So, they show up, they donate, they help. They make a point to move forward together – as one. The Food Bank of Delaware is just one way they’re doing that, year after year.
