At Western, we’re about more than just keeping people safe from pests. We also want to make an impact in the communities where we live and work. One of the most meaningful ways we do that is by partnering with local organizations that are committed to changing people’s lives.
For the past 11 years, as a Silver Sponsor for the past seven, we’ve been proud supporters of Spectrum360 and their annual Walk for a Lifetime. It’s an inspiring event that brings families, friends, staff, alumni, and community sponsors together in celebration and support of individuals with autism and related challenges. During that time, we have raised over $30,000 for S360’s services, which include providing people with autism and those with related challenges the specialized programs and supports they need to realize their aspirations, lead thriving lives, and fully engage with their families and in their communities.
Our support is a testament to our commitment to the communities where we live and work, but it’s also very personal to us. The connection to the charity began through Service Manager Frank Giovannucci, whose son, Robert, was a student at Spectrum360. When the opportunity arose to become a walk sponsor, Western didn’t hesitate, and it has been a rewarding partnership ever since.
For the last four years, Branch Manager Stephen Swanson has personally attended the fundraising walk, and for the past two, he and his team have coordinated Western’s participation. Sometimes he even shows up as Skeeter the Mosquito. While the work leading up to the walk can be demanding, Stephen said, “Everyone at Western who is involved in the walk personally loves the experience of making the kids smile and making a difference in their everyday lives.” He emphasizes the pleasure and satisfaction Western finds in contributing to Spectrum360’s mission. “The smiles we get when we are handing out treats and giveaways are always so rewarding,” he said. “It’s for a cause we believe in, the people we support, and the communities we serve.”
Western is proud to have supported many vital aspects of Spectrum360’s work, from after-school programs and respite services to employment support. While Stephen is pleased Western can contribute to all these areas, the true motivation stems from the company’s core values. As an organization, Western genuinely believes in giving back to local communities. He noted, “Whether it’s taking care of pests for the businesses and residents we serve or supporting nonprofits like Spectrum360, we love making a difference in people’s lives.” He also said that supporting your communities can change lives. He highlights Western’s long history of partnerships with organizations like the YMCA and Relay for Life, encouraging everyone to step up and help transform the lives of those facing unique challenges. “We look forward to many more years working with Spectrum360,” said Stephen.
It was not only a beautiful day in June, but a beautiful cause to support. The people at Spectrum360 were thankful to everyone who showed up and they were good enough to call us out in an article of their own. Our partnership with Spectrum360 illustrates how we extend our commitment to service beyond pest control and create meaningful connections, and make a positive impact on a community. Because giving back, showing up, and making a difference – that’s The Western Way.
