Why Have Routine Pest Control Done at Your Home?

We sat down with Mike Lynch, Branch Manager for our Morris County Branch, to discuss pest control in our homes. We all know pest control is important if you have an infestation or see a large amount of any pest, but are there ways to prevent pests? Or at least mitigate the chance of a full-blown infestation? Mike has been with the company for 12 years now. He knows what it takes to keep our homes safe from all kinds of pests. Let’s hear from the expert!

Q: Hi Mike – thanks for taking the time to talk to us. You’ve been with Western Pest Services for quite a while. What’s the craziest pest situation you’ve ever seen?
A: A restaurant that had closed for 18 months due to COVID had a very serious rat infestation when they returned to resume service; we successfully removed over 70 rats so they could reopen rat-free!

Q: Well, that sounds like a horror movie – or a cute animated film! Could it have been prevented?
A: Most likely. The food should have been removed from the premises prior to closing, and the building has a lot of potential entry points due to a rubble wall foundation so fixing that could have helped. But, at the end of the day, this was something nobody was prepared for so we can’t really judge. We were just glad to help.

Q: What about homes? Is there a way to prevent pests at home, too?
A: There is, actually! Our Home Protection Plan covers many common household pests and includes year-round routine services to make sure to focus on that season’s most annoying pests. It even includes free emergency services in between. It’s the most proactive way to deal with pests in our homes.

Q: That does sound great. What pests are covered?
A: The program covers common ants, bees, carpet beetles, centipedes, clothes moths, cockroaches, crickets, earwigs, fleas, food infesting insects, ground beetles, mice, millipedes, pill bugs, rats, silverfish, sow bugs, common spiders, squirrels, ticks (in the home), and wasp nests.

Q: It sounds like it would have been easier to ask what isn’t covered! After hearing all this, why would someone NOT have routine pest service done at their home?
A: Frankly, I can’t think of a reason not to! We do offer many programs to suit any pest situation a homeowner may encounter, but you can only get real peace of mind with routine pest control service and that’s what a Home Protection Plan brings you. Plus, with Western, you will know it will be done right the first time.

Q: Thanks for talking to us today. Is there anything else you think homeowners should know?
A: We have the best-trained technicians in the industry and fantastic customer service representatives to answer all your questions. It may sound like I’m bragging but when it’s true, it’s not bragging at all! All our inspections are free of charge, and we take every precaution to keep your home or business safe. Also, be sure to ask about other services like our professional disinfectant treatment and even attic insulation. We are more than pest control.

Thanks so much to Mike for taking time out of his busy day to talk with us. If you think you could benefit from a Home Protection Plan like the one Mike was discussing above or the Western PurClean™ disinfectant treatment, contact your local branch today.
