Pest Control in Hempstead, NY

The Town of Hempstead (also known historically as South Hempstead) is the largest of the three towns in Nassau County (alongside North Hempstead and Oyster Bay) in Long Island. The town was first settled around 1644 following the establishment of a treaty between English colonists, John Carman and Robert Fordham, and the Lenape Indians in 1643. Although the settlers were from the English colony of Connecticut, a patent was issued by the government of New Netherland after the settlers had purchased land from the local natives. This transaction is depicted in a mural in the Hempstead Village Hall, reproduced from a poster commemorating the 300th anniversary of Hempstead Village. In local Dutch-language documents of the 1640s and later, the town was invariably called Heemstede, and several of Hempstead’s original 50 patentees were Dutch, suggesting that Hempstead was named after the Dutch town and/or castle Heemstede, which are near the cities of Haarlem and Amsterdam. However, the authorities possibly had Dutchified a name given by co-founder John Carman, who was born in 1606 in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England, on land owned by his ancestors since the 13th century.

Hempstead clearly has a rich history, but it’s also a tourist destination. Visit the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy. The mansion is the original Guggenheim Estate. It embodies the grandeur and elegance that define the Gold Coast period of the early 20th century, when prominent American families built great mansions on large estates as summer retreats along the Long Island Sound. The Sands Point peninsula was the famed “East Egg” in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby.” Tour the Clark Botanic Garden – just make sure you bring your camera. After a day like that, indulge in authentic Columbian food at Mi Tierrita where the portions are large and the flavors even larger. Every year, people flock to Hempstead to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Hempstead, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest Control Services Near You

Properly controlling pests in Hempstead, NY should be done on a local level. Hempstead’s pest issues are different than Connecticut’s and way different than New Jersey’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Western Pest Services. We have been servicing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania for almost 100 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located in nearby New York City, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.

As the Empire State, New York is known for the city that never sleeps, but it’s got no shortage of lush vegetation. The towns on Long Island are no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our NY branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around Kennedy Memorial Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. dog food bag! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Hempstead can help, including:

  • Bats
  • Bed bugs
  • Ticks
  • Spotted lanternflies
  • Ants
  • Carpenter ants
  • Spiders
  • Beetles
  • Rats
  • Raccoons
