PCT Magazine launched its Technician of the Year award in the 90s. The program is an opportunity to pay homage to the men and women working in the field who are the lifeblood of any pest control company – including Western Pest Services. Service technicians are the ones entrusted with helping our company carry out its mission statement by understanding and effectively utilizing products and technology, explaining our company’s services to our customers, going the extra mile to ensure that our customers stay customers, and much more. We’re very proud (but not surprised) to announce that a finalist for the 2022 Technician of the Year was our very own Nick Bucci.
From the moment Nick started on April 22, 2019, we knew we had chosen wisely. Our goal at Western is to always attract top talent, but everyone knows how difficult that can be. With Nick, it was an easy choice. We were happy when he took the job we offered! Since that day, he has been servicing the homeowners on his route with a smile on his face. Before Nick joined us, he was a chef in a retirement community, which makes sense. No matter what job he is doing at the moment, he is always focused on taking care of his customers.
You don’t have to just believe us, though. The branch Nick works at, Maple Shade, receives many calls requesting him as their technician. They could have heard about his tremendous service from a friend or neighbor, or they could have read one of the almost 300 reviews left on Google naming him specifically. That’s a lot of reviews – too many to include. But just so you get the idea, we have already gotten four reviews in January 2023 that are specific to Nick! Mark M. said, “Western Technician Nick is second to none! His professionalism and politeness are so incredibly infectious! His enthusiasm for his profession instills so much confidence in him and the job he is doing. His ability to explain everything he is doing is so reassuring as a homeowner. Nick is such an asset to Western and I hope they both know that and appreciate Him as we as homeowners do.” Thank you, Mark – we do know, and we do appreciate him!
Mark isn’t the only one that appreciates Nick! Lora G. said, “Nick was thorough on his first visit and spent a lot of time going through the house looking for the unwanted guest. He came out a second time and patiently explained what he was doing and why. Nick is professional, courteous, and friendly. Overall, I am pleased with my experience with Western.” We’re pleased that she’s pleased with her experience with Western, but we think she means she’s pleased with Nick – just like we are. Kevin L. said, “Nick at Western Pest [is] an amazing guy. He’s pleasant, informative, and personal. His work and punctuality are exceptional, and I cannot speak highly enough of him for his expertise and professionalism.”
Corene H. was also very impressed with Nick. She said, “I am very, very well pleased with the service and service technician Nick. He was very, very professional and listened to all my concerns and explained in detail to the service he was providing. Nick was courteous and very professional I’m looking forward to the next visit with someone who understands the concerns of the household. Thank you for having such great employees.” Keep in mind these are just the ones from January of this year – so far! We all know how important it is to hear from your customers and Nick has certainly earned it.
We also heard from Maple Shade Branch Manager, Greg Barnable. He said, “Nick has a unique ability to do a thorough service for every one of his customers, while at the same time taking the time to explain to that customer what he has done, what they should expect to happen next, and if follow-ups are needed. He takes care of it all. That level of service and communication sets him apart from many other home service technicians I’ve worked with. Nick takes his job very seriously protecting his customers from current and future pest problems is his passion. I was not surprised when I heard he was a finalist for Technician of the Year – but I will say I’m surprised he didn’t win.” We were surprised, too.
The PCT Technician of the Year Awards are designed to honor the achievements of the pest control industry’s finest service professionals. The criteria they use to choose the winners are based on participating in industry educational meetings, exhibiting excellence in safety, customer relations, and leadership skills, and being active in community service. Nick has got it all. In our book, he’s the winner.
More important than any of the work information, what everyone should know about Nick is he lives for his wife Amy and their two daughters, Gabby and Kylie. A short distance behind them is his love of Kansas City sports, even the Royals for some reason. Along with that Nick still has time to update his Facebook status every 10 minutes. We love Nick and we congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition from the industry. He truly deserves it.
