Pest Control in NoHo, NY

NoHo, short for North of Houston Street (as contrasted with SoHo), is a primarily residential upper-class neighborhood in Lower Manhattan. In 1748, Jacob Sperry, a physician from Switzerland, created the city’s first botanical garden near the current intersection of Lafayette Street and Astor Place. At the time, it was located about 1 mile north of the developed portion of the city and served as a vacation stop for people from present-day downtown. By 1804, John Jacob Astor bought the site from Sperry and leased it to Joseph Delacroix. Delacroix built a country resort named Vauxhall Gardens on the site; the gardens had previously been located further downtown, in Tribeca. NoHo soon became an enclave for well-to-do families. Because of rapid development on Bond, Bleecker, and Great Jones Streets, it was not affordable to build houses on these streets. These streets were among the city’s most elite at the time and contained such personalities as “aristocratic” mayor Philip Hone. Therefore, in 1826, after Delacroix’s lease expired, Astor carved out an upper-class neighborhood from the site with Lafayette Street bisecting eastern gardens from western homes. The street was christened by the Marquis de Lafayette in July 1825. Fancy!

Although one of NYC’s tiniest neighborhoods, NoHo is filled with eclectic restaurants, art galleries, and boho-chic shopping outlets. The home of artists like Andy Warhol, NoHo’s unconventional character and rich architecture make for a splendid afternoon walk. Whether it’s live poetry readings, classical theatre screenings, or sublime shopping, this East Village neighborhood has something for everyone. A National Historic Landmark, Merchant’s House Museum carries a vast collection of items from the Tredwell family, who lived in the house from 1835-1933. Visitors can explore the collections of furniture, clothing, books, and household items from the Victorian era. Be sure to explore the dresses and fashion accessories belonging to the Tredwell women. Known for their energetic and bold blue characters, Blue Man Group performances combine live music, audience interactions, and comedy to create a multi-media sensory experience for both families and adults to enjoy. If you sit in the front few rows, bring a poncho! You could witness the next Lady Gaga or Tony Bennett at the Public Theater. And with so many restaurant choices in NoHo, it can be overwhelming. We suggest hitting Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria for carefully sourced Mediterranean plates served in a rustic-chic space with an extensive wine cellar. In particular, try the crispy artichokes with preserved lemon and the smoked anchovy pizza. They are both a pleasant surprise. Every year, people flock to NoHo to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in NoHo, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest Control Services Near You

Properly controlling pests in NoHo, NY should be done on a local level. NoHo’s pest issues are different than Connecticut’s and way different than New Jersey’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Western Pest Services. We have been servicing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania for almost 100 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located in nearby New York City, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.

As the Empire State, New York is known for the city that never sleeps, but it’s got no shortage of lush vegetation. NoHo is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our NYC branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around Cooper Triangle, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. dog food bag! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in NoHo can help, including:

  • Bats
  • Bed bugs
  • Pest birds
  • Spotted lanternflies
  • Ticks
  • Ants
  • Carpenter ants
