Problems Caused by Boxelder Bugs
Boxelder bug bites are extremely rare. Should you be one of the very few that gets one, they can be mistaken for a mosquito bite just without the itch. These pests are more of a nuisance and can hurt a reputation if left unchecked in your business. We don’t recommend crushing them since they let off a foul odor like sting bugs do. Boxelder bug feces can stain fabrics since it’s an unpleasant red and orange liquid.
Whether you spell them box elder bugs or boxelder bugs, they all are flattened and resemble an elongated oval. They have six legs that are easy to see, two distinctive antennae, and are about ½” long. Boxelder bugs’ wings are flat against their backs. The wings are largely black-colored, with red accents along the margins. Boxelder bugs also have a red “racing stripe” behind their heads. They are harmless but nobody wants boxelder bugs inside their business.
