Problems Caused by Carpenter Bees
The good news is that carpenter bees are virtually harmless. Only the females can sting and they will only do so if you handle them or they feel very threatened. The main issues are the male carpenter bees dive-bombing at the heads of your employees or guests and the precise round holes the females drill into your building. Besides being unsightly, over time carpenter bee holes can weaken the structure and carpenter bee poop can actually stain the surface it’s on. So, while they may not be a physical threat, you certainly don’t want to just let the carpenter bees drill away.
Carpenter bees are distinct with their chubby bodies and the males dive-bombing at you and your employees. But you want to make sure that’s the stinging pest you have before making any attempts to deal with them. Mistaking them for hornets could hurt (literally). Our Board Certified Entomologist can help with that.
