The good news is that carpenter bees are virtually harmless. Only the females can sting and they will only do so if you handle them or they feel very threatened. Besides being unsightly, over time carpenter bee holes can weaken the structure and carpenter bee poop can actually stain the surface it’s on. So, while they may not be a physical threat, you certainly don’t want to just let the carpenter bees drill away.
